Jump Crypto to Build New Validator Client to Top Solana’s Resilience
Jump Crypto, a multifaceted digital currency infrastructure builder and investor, has announced its plans to build a new validator client for the Solana Blockchain protocol.
By partnering with the Solana Foundation, Jump Crypto aims to increase the throughput of the Solana protocol and by so doing, reposition it as one of the most functional blockchain networks around.
Solana is regarded as one of the most used blockchain protocols. However, as a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) network it has been overwhelmed and overloaded several times in the last few months.
With constantly reported security breaches, the last of which involves the attack on its wallets, the subject of how safe the Solana network is has been a talking point amongst observers, analysts, and users across the board.
With validators at the heart of the network, Jump Crypto’s plan to build a new Validator Client will help complement the one originally built by Solana Labs.
Jump Crypto has the requisite expertise to chart this new course for the Solana protocol, and as revealed, the new Validator Client will be written in the C++ programming language.
“Jump has unparalleled experience with over 20 years of scaling networks and building highly performant software systems,” Dan Albert, executive director of the Solana Foundation, said in the statement. “Their contributions to the Solana Network will improve mission-critical systems, helping the network scale to billions of users.”
The startup has named one of its in-house veteran developers, and its Chief Science Officer, Kevin Bowers as the man that will oversee the project.
Positioned to Combat Ethereum’s Dominance
While Solana may be a formidable and functional protocol in today’s Web 3.0 world, its popularity and relevance still pale when compared to Ethereum.
The relevance of Solana is even more threatened with the highly anticipated launch of Ethereum 2.0 which has been slated to go live on the Mainnet in mid-September.
When this new Ethereum protocol is launched, it will outcompete Solana and other so-called Ethereum Killers with its revamped efficiency, throughput, and scalability.
To stay relevant, Solana needs a better security outlook, and with the proposed validator client from Jump Crypto, the protocol may have a chance to maintain the integrity of its ecosystem beyond the Merge event.
